Dr. Jack Scallions
About PASTOR Scallions…
In September 1973, Fairview Baptist Church called Jack Scallions as its pastor. Pastor Scallions had been pastoring the Northview Baptist Church in Dalton, GA, while attending seminary. When Pastor Scallions came, Fairview Baptist Church had previously had six pastors in twenty years and only one building. Along with his love for the pastorate, he is a regular speaker for Bible conferences, special meetings, and commencements.
He is known and respected by his peers for his strong conservative stand and his genuine love for people. Dr. Scallions and his wife, Paulette, have three children: Randy Scallions, Mrs. Dana Cash, and Mrs. Marty Alexander. Dr. Scallions graduated from Temple Baptist Seminary in 1973, taking the M.R.E. and Master of Divinity degrees. He was honored by his Alma Mater with a Doctorate of Divinity Degree in 1996. Dr. Scallions presently serves as President of the Tennessee Association of Christian Schools. Under his leadership, the Fairview Baptist Church has grown into a multi-faceted ministry with a 36-acre campus. A 16,800 sq. ft. auditorium facility was completed debt-free in May of 2009. Camp Fairview, a 150-acre youth camp, hosts hundreds of campers each summer.
Fairview Christian Academy was founded in 1977, and as an accredited institution, has provided quality, academic education in a Christian environment. A daily radio program has been a ministry of the church since Pastor Scallions came. The church's ministries include: a Spanish church, bus ministry, King's Kids, children's church, and a worldwide missions program.
In September of 2018, the church celebrated with Pastor Scallions as he reached 45 years of pastoring at Fairview. The previously mentioned ministries (Camp Fairview, Fairview Christian Academy, Iglesia Bautista Fairview, the radio program…) are still thriving and reaching people in Athens, TN and around the world. On November 18, 2018, the church voted to promote Pastor Scallions to become Pastor Emeritus of the Fairview Baptist Church. He continues to serve in many aspects of the church, camp, radio, and school ministries.
