Plan Your Visit
If you have never been to Fairview before, here is everything you need to know before Sunday. You will find where we are, when we meet, and what happens when you walk through the door.
We are on County Road 439
Fairview sits on a thirty six acre campus just outside Athens, and we are an easy drive from Etowah, Englewood, Decatur, Niota, and Sweetwater.
County Road 439 runs off Highway 30 just down the road from Mayfield Dairy Farms. Our turn is directly across from the trailhead for the Eureka Trail. The church sits close to the road on your left after a short drive, and you will not miss it.
Your first Sunday, start to finish
Walking into a church you have never been to is the hardest part. Here is what actually happens, so none of it is a surprise.
When you arrive
The lot in front of the building is small and usually fills up for the Sunday Morning and Sunday Evening services. There is plenty more parking up the hill by the school, and a golf cart runs down so you do not have to walk. Ushers are at the front doors to welcome you, take you wherever you need to go, and make you feel at home.
In the service
A service runs about an hour. We sing from the hymnbook, hear special music, and then Pastor Herrell preaches from the Bible. Nobody will ask you to stand up or introduce yourself, and although an offering plate is passed, there is no pressure to give. You probably will not slip in and out unnoticed, though. We are a friendly church, and somebody will want to say hello.
What to wear
On a Sunday morning you will see mostly suits, along with button-down shirts, khakis and dresses. Wednesday evenings are much more relaxed, and plenty of people come straight from work in scrubs or a uniform. We believe God deserves our best, but if your best right now is a t-shirt and jeans, we would rather see you here in it than not see you at all.
Bring the whole family
We believe children are a gift from God, and they are welcome in every service. The nursery is just inside the front doors on your right, secure and staffed by volunteers who love looking after the little ones.
During Sunday Morning, children go up the hill to the school building for children’s church, led by our youth pastor with security staff watching the doors.
Our sign in and sign out system makes sure your child leaves only with the person who brought them. If you would rather keep your children with you in the service, that is welcome too, and many parents do.
- Nursery Birth through age three, staffed for every service.
- Children Age four through sixth grade, Sunday School and Sunday Morning.
- Teens Seventh through twelfth grade, Sunday School and Wednesday Evening.
Come and see us this Sunday
If you still have a question, call the church office or send us a message. We would rather answer it now than have you wonder about it on Sunday morning.
